Description
The Hole In The Wall by Arthur Morrison
This is an illustrated memoir of the colourful and ribald goings on in a Thameside pub in Wapping in the East End of London. It is thought that this particular pub may have been the 'Prospect of Whitby' situated in Wapping Wall, the street named in this book. Originally published in 1902 when the London dockland teemed with commerce and thousands of disparate characters both from the East End of London and from all over the world.
